TikTok- Banned?

As we all know TikTok got interim banned just today. I was never a huge fan of TikTok before the quarantine was imposed. I started using TikTok at the end of May and suddenly, I started enjoying it. I made multiple videos and some of them went viral and I started getting more followers on TikTok. This encouraged me to make more pranks and funny videos.

Indian government decided to ban TikTok along with few other app for data privacy reasons and the ban is purely based on the security reasons. (I encourage people to think it this  way only)

TikTok soon became my favourite app and now, it’s gone ! 🙁

Now it’s gone!! And no one is sure for how long.

This makes me really sad. What made me even more sad was the response of the people, I saw people celebrating the ban of TikTok for no good reason. Just because your acting and dancing is not your area of interest you are not allowed to condemn other people’s choices.

TikTok was a platform for many people to showcase their talents and even capitalise on the same, now its gone & I don’t know until when.

In the US, a complaint was filed to the FTC accusing TikTok of illegally collecting personal information from children, thus violating the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. (Vidooly.com)

If you have never used TikTok before I must say you have missed a lot of entertainment. Many people on TikTok are really talented. There are millions of challenges going on like challenging gravity, making puppies talk to each other and my most favourites were the pranks !

India was the most favourable market for this given the user numbers and the engagement.

A 15 second video made anywhere and anytime with the help of the smartphone is what makes the app more attractive.

For now all I know is TikTok is fighting the case with the government to explain their privacy norms and I’m quite sure they will be successful in the same.

This isn’t a ban for life. It is just an interim ban until TikTok or ByteDance provides justifications for the data privacy policies and guidelines as per the draft Indian equivalent of EU GDPR.

Just for fun, I am attaching my TikTok videos (now hosted on YouTube). Hope you all enjoy it.
