Recently my school asked me to write a piece of advice for the incoming International Students and I thought of sharing it on my blog post so that everyone can access it. I am posting both questions and answers so that it will be easy for you to comprehend.
ISS (International Student Services) wants to give a shout-out to our graduating students and celebrate you in a few ways:
We want to highlight our graduating international students on social media. We invite you to share:

A few words of advice for other international students
First of all, I would like to congratulate all the incoming students who took this bold step of staying away from their family and pursuing their dream in a different nation.
Being an international student is difficult, you don’t know the campus, people and country. But at the same time it’s fun too 🙂 You will eventually get to know everything. It makes you independent and makes you more ready for the world. Here, I would like to say that International students are not introverts. They have come here to prove themselves and that they are much more than what they think of themselves. Although there are so many people to help us here we always think that we are on our own and try to understand the bureaucracy to act accordingly.
My piece of advice as a recent graduate is:
- Do your own work. You are here to learn and understand new thing if you take help from others in doing your work it defeats the purpose of your education.
- Attend all the classes, I wasn’t able to attend half of my final term on campus due to the horrible Pandemic 2019-2020 this has certainly caused a void in my life (& Of course I wish we had the ceremony, which has now postponed indefinitely). Unless you are extremely sick do not miss any classes.
- Take advantage of Shapiro Library. Our Library provides innovative services and technologies, the library delivers information and instruction necessary for academic success. I was delighted to be a part of Shapiro library as a Student assistant and as we use to say it’s more than just books.
- Do not compare yourself with others. Some of your classmates might be getting better grades than you. Be happy for them, as you are here to learn not to compete.
- Call your family at least once a day adjusting your time zone. They will be worried about you all the time as you stay away from them.
- Never let your grades define you, sometimes due to unprecedented situations you happen to score less but that’s not what your knowledge is limited to.
- Develop people skills, yes people come with different accents. Learn to understand and reciprocate to the feeling which they are expressing.
- Keep your dorm or house clean, I don’t know why I am saying this, but it will be helpful 🙂
- Do not rush to finish your course. Take your time as school is an important part of your life. Join clubs and associations. Try to engage yourself in more on campus activities as it develops confidence and people will recognize you.
- Lastly, do not feel that you don’t belong here. Make your way through all the hurdles. People will accept you if you are genuinely trying to learn and develop yourself, no matter which part of world you are in.
A favorite memory of your time at SNHU (a favorite class or instructor/staff member, a favorite event or club/team, a favorite place to hang out on campus, etc.
I have amazing memories with SNHU. My best experience was International Gala, it is an event where we get to see a lot of cultures all around the world. SNHU is a place which honors and respects all the cultures around the world.
My other best moment was when I was a Panelist of “Business Etiquettes around the World” where I got to speak about Indian culture and answer the curious audience questions and I was also delighted to hear the beliefs of my fellow colleagues.
I graduated in MBA Finance. MBA brings a lot of transferable skills to you along with a degree. This degree makes you very much proficient and versatile due to its wide arrangement of course work. One such course, which made me excited was Business Ethics and Corporate social responsibility, taught by Dr. Kurt Stuke. CSR deals with serving the community in some way, by donations or by reducing the carbon footprints generated by the company.
My favorite hangout place was of course the Library 🙂, I spent many hours in the Library working on my projects and assignments. All places inside campus are amazing, I use to go to gym to work out and student centre to attend meetings.
